CALIFORNIA ROLL

California Roll

The California roll is said originally to have been a combination of avocado, imitation crab, and mayonnaise wrapped up sushi rice in the inside-out style. It was invented as a way for those Americans who weren't familiar with nori and didn't like raw fish to still be able to enjoy sushi. The California roll got its name because it was created in Los Angeles' Little Tokyo neighborhood.* *There are several different stories about where it was invented.
